Life is the Beach
Fuji, Vintage Negative, F16, 60s exposure using internal 4 stop ND filter.
Murphy and I moved back to SLO to be closer to the mountains and the ocean. We would hike almost every morning and then hit the beach for a stroll and a beer or glass of wine in the evenings. Since Murphy passed, I’ve found myself hiking a lot but not spending time at the beach. Partly because it was hard to visit Avila without Murphy and somewhat because walking on the beach just isn’t as challenging as hiking.
I decided that all needed to change and set out to make up for lost beach time. Over a week I walked about 15 miles on 4 beaches and a short hike to Pirates Cove… to get a better view of Avila Beach. I decided to spend one day shooting iPhone only and two days experimenting with Fuji film recipes. The goal with both cameras was get great images straight out the camera with little to no editing. Over all, I’m pretty happy with the results.
Here are a few of the highlights, but please head over to the new and improved random galleries section for more beach picts!
A short two minute walk from the Pirates Cove parking lot bring you to Pirates Cove Cave. Walk 100 feet through the cave and you find your self standing on cliff with a spectacular view of Avila Beach.

There were plenty, but I have to go with Sunset beer over Avila.
What’s next?
Currently in Mammoth, CA. This is the first stop of a TBD length road trip. From here I’ll be heading to Tonopah NV to spend a night in the World Famous Clown Hotel 🤡. Then it’s off to meet my sister in Vegas for a few days. From there, who knows. Just me, the Fuji, and GoPro out for some adventure.
