Walking around SLO
This blog post will be a bit short. I’m still learning Squarespace and every post presents a unique challenge. This week it was upgrading my plan to be able to send more than 3 emails and month and dealing with Squarespace having many ways to do the same thing, but they greatly vary depending on the type of block you’re using. Learning is fun…
I’m also experiment with how I set up my random galleries. I think you’ll see what I mean when you follow the links. Any feedback would be great. Thanks!
Walking around SLO at night
Desolate streets of SLO at night.
I love to walk around SLO at night. The town is quiet and the lighting is fantastic. I’ve walked around town at night and captured some great images with my phone. I really wanted to up the quality by using a real camera with tripod. So I packed a bag and headed to town around 9:30 on a Monday night. Usually town is completely dead by this point. Well not this Monday. A lot of car and foot traffic for SLO. Made using the tripod to grab long exposures nearly impossible. I did manage to get a few I liked. Check out the full gallery here.

Experiment with Fuji film recipes.
Experimenting with the Fuji X100V film simulation recipes. Fuji X Weekly is a great place to find a wide variety of recipes.
This gallery was just a quick experiment to see how the same image looked using 7 different recipes (camera can store a max of 7 recipes). The goal is to get a set of go to recipes that produce JPGs in the desired style right from the camera. No editing required. It’s to require some experimenting and a lot more shooting, but that’s the easy part. Getting Fuji X Raw SW setup and working with my camera was the trick part.
Two of my favorite recipes shown below.
Kodak Ektar 100
Retro Chrome
Drink of the week
Went to SLO Cider with friend to play music trivia. Despite it being incredible hard, we somehow managed to come in 3rd place. While it was a fun night, and I was happy to finally try SLO Cider, it just reaffirmed that I am not a cider guy. I did grab one pict with my iPhone that I really liked.
What’s next?
This was a productive week for shooting for local business. Shot promotional material for Bottlecraft and covered a new local band in one of their first shows. I also shoot for a local magazine and am adding article to the webpage. Stay tuned for another blog post in the next few days.
