Ghost Towns 👻

Bodie Ghost Town, Bodie CA

Bodie has been on my bucket list for years and I must say it didn’t disappoint! It’s easily the largest and most well preserved ghost towns I visited. Spent a few hours wandering around with my Fuji X100V and felt like I could have stayed longer. Would have been great to get some sunset picts. But alas, had a far drive a head of me. Next stop was Tonopah NV, 170 lonely desert miles away.

Tonopah Cemetery

I have no idea why I picked Tonopah NV and the World Famous Clown Museum. Best I can figure is I was drunk YouTube’ing, saw a WatchMojo on places your shouldn’t visit, and promptly put it in my “want to go” list on Google maps. Other than the insane number of flies in my first room, it was definitely worth the stop. From my room, I could look across the parking lot and see the Tonopah Cemetery. Timing was perfect as sun was setting and I was able to take a few good images with my Fuji X100V. Btw, this was the only camera I brought on this trip. Truly and amazing camera.

Goldwell Open Air Museum

The goal was Rhyolite Ghost town in Rhyolite NV. I did make it there, but I don’t feel I grabbed any noteworthy images. Goldwell Open Air Museum is right next to the old ghost town and definitely worth a stop. It was a bit tricky to photograph due to the distance between related exhibits or the size of the exhibits (the one time I wish I had my Sony and a suite of lenses). Also it was insanely bright and 115 degrees. And once again, I found myself in the middle of nowhere with a time line to be in Vegas 200 miles away.
