The Bars of San Francisco
What do you do when your friend invites you to a day out in San Francisco? You grab your Fuji X100V, a few layers of clothing, miss your train, and donate generously to the local economy via a Lyft drive with an excellent playlist… I think it’s called “get pumped for Alcatraz”. A slightly more aggressive take on Yacht Rock.
50 miles and 65 half completed conversations later we arrived at Pier 33 ready to explore both sides of the bars of San Francisco.
The lighting late afternoon at Alcatraz was exceptional! I really like the way a lot of the black and white images turned out.
The journey from incarcerated behind bars to inebriated in front of them begins with a walk from Pier 33 to Comstock Saloon.
Casually strolling to Cold Drinks Bar where we made a new BFF, Davide. Skilled mixologist hailing from Italy made a fine Old Fashioned and before we left introduced us to Talisker Ten which has now become my favorite peated scotch.
Quick stop to Church Key, at one time one of my favorite Belgium Beer Bars in the city. It’s changed a lot over the years. Less Belgium beers and more local hazies, but still worth a stop if just to chat with a few local architects, artists, and folks buying the perfect painting to hang proudly about their sofa.
This is Anthony at Rickhouse. He’s a good friend of Davide from Cold Drinks Bar. He started us off with the flight below. Things get a little fuzzy here… Could be the camera lost focus or we did another flight, impossible to tell. Might just have to head back and give it another go!
